You need secure data and computing resources
CAP5 offers premium Data Center hosting and colocation services from our proven Class 1 facility
Location
Our Data Center is located Southwest of downtown Houston. In the ten years of its existence, the proven facility has withstood the ravages of multiple hurricanes & tropical storms without failure or down-time.
Physical Security
Access to the building may only occur by authorized personnel through a two-factor electronic key-card authentication. During working-hours, staff is present in the facility, and after-hours security personnel patrol both the perimeter and interior of the building. 24x7 video surveillance monitors all entrances, and an audio alarm protects the colocation entrances. There are no building windows into the data center vaults, and all equipment cabinets are locked.
Data Transport
The building is located on a 41mile local SONET 216-count fiber ring driven by Cisco 12000 switches, with an OC-192 network backbone driven by Infenera optical switching infrastructure. There is a single entrance of SONET loop fiber into the building, and each cage is fed by data connections from T1 up to OC-48 level with switched redundancy available. Standard handoffs to the cabinet is via 10M Ethernet connection. XO is the primary provider at the facility, with alternate carrier cross-connects provided via local POP facility. Cross connect fees vary based upon bandwidth desired.
Continuity of Service
Data service is verified every five minutes between network routers and the carrier Network Operations Centers located in Dallas, New York, San Francisco.
Power
The Data Center has a single entrance into the building for power. We can provide 120v to 208v AC, or 48v DC to cabinets, though CAP5 normally provides 120V, 20AMP power standard. All power is protected against over-surge through integrated protection devices, and the entire building is protected from lightning strikes through power-grounding. There are three redundant 2x40KVA 1x100KVA UPS systems, each with dual batteries.
Dual 500KW Diesel powered backup generators are fueled by a 2500 gallon storage tank onsite, with a 2000 gallon reserve storage to power the facility for a week after activation. The facility owner is listed on the top of the fuel replenishment and allocation status – equal to hospitals and other mission-critical facilities. The system is tested for activation weekly without a load, and load-tested bi-weekly.
Environmental Conditioning
A Leibert chilled air system with twelve cycled chiller units sharing the heat-pump load. Humidity monitors are in place thoughout the HVAC system.
Fire Suppression
An FM200 (no water) system protects the interior, and three fire monitoring systems are in place (one for building, one for each of two colocation areas). These systems are tested on a regular basis.
Resource Monitoring
All CAP5 servers, networks and applications are monitored 24x7 through automated systems. Should problems occur, notifications are immediately sent to key personnel who deploy remotely and/or physically to manage events. CAP5’s highly trained security team responds proactively to detected failures before they progress into serious system issues.
